Anaconda Wins New Business In International Markets
Anaconda Equipment International in Dungannon has secured new export business worth almost £500,000 for its tracked conveyors and screening machinery as a result of its involvement in recent Invest Northern Ireland trade activities.
The order came from the Tyrone company's participation in the recent Invest NI trade mission to the Russian business centres of Moscow and St Petersburg, and the big quarrying and mining equipment show at Hillhead in Derbyshire.
The company, a leader in mobile conveyors, used both events to launch an innovative product, a compact screening machine for processing recycled concrete, crushed rock, sand and gravel, compost and top soil.
Dr Vicky Kell, welcoming the company's latest business outside Northern Ireland, said: "These orders will strengthen Anaconda's standing in the global market and the overall reputation of Northern Ireland as an international engineering centre specialising in particular in the design, manufacture, and marketing of sophisticated machinery for screening, washing and recycling.
"The successful launch of the new compact screen will further enhance Northern Ireland's position as an innovator in engineering. We've worked closely with the company's marketing team on export initiatives in developing markets including Russia and the Arabian Gulf, initiatives which are producing significant business for this enterprising company."
Con Gallagher, Sales Director at Anaconda Equipment International, said: "The response to our equipment during both events was fantastic. Our new tracked screen attracted tremendous attention because of its compact size and unique functionality.
"The screen is the first in a series of machines that we are developing specifically for the screening and recycling industries worldwide.
"It was Anaconda's first presentation at Hillhead and we succeeded in selling all the machinery on our stand over the three-day event. The orders are still coming in for the new screen and our other machinery from many parts of the world. Our dealer network has grown to more than 40 and they are keen to get their hands on the latest innovation from our team of design engineers.
"In Russia, we signed up with a major dealer in Moscow and have since received orders for our conveying machinery and also the new screen. In addition, we are currently following up many excellent leads which will result in further business.
He added: "Overall, the Russian mission and the Hillhead show were extremely worthwhile and will strengthen our export sales. Invest NI's practical support for both events was excellent."

Older Women To Get Breast Scans
Women up to the age of 70 will be invited for breast screening under new plans just announced by NI Health Minister Michael McGimpsey. Up to now only women aged between 50 and 64 have been routinely invited to attend screening. Currently approximately 150,000 women are invited for screening.

New Era For Cervical Screening In Northern Ireland
Primary HPV testing is to be fully introduced in a major boost to Northern Ireland's Cervical Screening Programme. The Department of Health (DoH) has confirmed that they are on course for the full introduction of primary HPV testing, which is more sensitive than cytology-based screening, by December 2023.

Full primary HPV testing has been officially introduced to the cervical screening pathway, bringing Northern Ireland into line with the rest of the UK and Republic of Ireland. Between 2016 and 2020 in NI, an average of 81 people were diagnosed with cervical cancer each year, and there were around 21 deaths from cervical cancer annually.
