Cork Girl's Assault Probed

Gardaí in Mayfield are seeking the public's assistance in identifying the occupants of a dark coloured car or van that was seen in a residential area of Mayfield in Cork City on Monday, (15th) at 6.30pm approximately. There were two male occupants in this vehicle. The police are investigating an allegation that one of these males made an unwarranted approach to a young girl in the Ard Na Gréine Estate.

Racism's Final Focus

The Government body charged with tackling racism will hold its final news conference today before being wound up. The National Consultative Committee on Racism and Interculturalism will report on the last 11 years of its work. The committee is being dissolved due to Budget cutbacks.

Economy To Get Boost

The Government is expected to unveil broad details of its economic recovery plan later this week. RTÉ News is reporting that the Government hopes to launch its framework plan well before Christmas - perhaps as early as tomorrow. It is expected it will not involve firm targets and ministers said last night it would be as its title suggests - a framework outlining the areas where savings could be made and initiatives launched.

Gardai Launch Manhunt After Prisoner Escapes From Court
Gardaí have launched a manhunt after a prisoner escaped from Cloverhill in Dublin. The man escaped from Bray Circuit Court in Wicklow after his case was heard on Thursday morning. According to RTE, the man ran off after his handcuffs were removed.
