Fire Damages Historic Belcamp College

Dublin Fire Brigade (DFB) has tackled a blaze at Belcamp College, a listed historic building, designed by architect of the White House, James Hoban.

Five units attended the scene, which was reported at about 6am on Friday morning, 22 July.

It is understood the fire concentrated on the 2nd and 3rd floor of the historic building, causing significant damage. DFB said the fire was brought under control by about 8.35am.

The building, recently taken over by NAMA, has been targeted by arsonists over the last few years.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.

Mountjoy Prison Cell Fire
A fire broke out in a cell at Dublin's Mountjoy Prison on Thursday night, according to reports. It is understood that a prisoner had set fire to a cell. However, it is believed that prison staff and fire crews were able to contain the fire quickly. No-one was injured in the incident.

SIPTU Raise Calls On FF To Clarify Ambulance Service Position
SIPTU members of Dublin Fire Brigade (DFB) have called on Fianna Fáil to clarify its position on DFB emergency ambulance service. The union members raised their concerns following the launch of Fianna Fáil's General Election manifesto, which states that they are open to the removal of the ambulance service.
