Open Day To Be Held At Wind Farm To Mark Global Wind Day 2014

A public open day is to be held at the Hollyford Wind Farm, giving people the opportunity to "learn about the turbines and renewable electricity".

Operators of the wind farm, Energia, will meet visitors to the farm and take them on a guided tour of the facilities.

Other activities will also be laid on for children, including face painting, goody bags and information for parents and teachers.

Peter Baillie, Managing Director, Energia Renewables said: "To mark Global Wind Day 2014, we are inviting the public and schools to visit our fantastic wind farm facility at Hollyford. All visitors will receive an informative presentation on renewable energy and a tour of the Hollyford wind farm. We look forward to welcoming all interested members of the public and are encouraging them to contact us to reserve a place."

Access to the wind farm is from Hollyford town which is on the R497 road between Nenagh and Tipperary Town.

Wind Farm Academy To Boost Donegal
A National Wind Energy Academy is being established at Letterkenny Institute of Technology as part of a €500,000 initiative being backed by the Donegal County Development Board. A "precautionary approach" to large-scale wind farms has been urged by Offaly County Council in a submission to the Department of the Environment, who are currently carrying out a review of wind energy guidelines.

The company is set to invest in its second wind farm in Ireland, following the development of a similar facility in Donegal.
