Minister Apologises After Children Are Left Out In The Cold

Education Minister Ruairi Quinn has apologised after children at a Dublin school had to wear their coats at all times because it was unable to pay for its boiler to be fixed for five weeks.

The Principal of Our Lady of the Wayside National School in Bluebell, Anne McCluskey, announced they do not have the €300 for the repairs.

Staff had to contact parents to ask them to put layers of clothes on their children to keep them warm throughout the day.

The Minister said: "If a boiler breaks down I know that there is a response capable of being delivered, and I will undermine to make a direct enquiry.

"And I'm sorry that the children and the parents have had to go through this experience."
