Irish Women Found Dead At Austrian Ski Resort

An Irish woman has been found dead at a ski resort in Austria.

The 31-year-old, from County Mayo, had been staying at Hotel Park in St Johann in Tirol along with some family members.

Police were alerted after the group could not get in touch with her on Monday morning after spending the evening socialising with friends, and authorities later found her in her hotel room.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade says it is aware of the situation and stands ready to provide consular assistance if necessary.

Man Arrested After Roscommon Incident

A man has been arrested in connection with an incident in County Roscommon last December.

Eight security guards were assaulted at a residential premises in the Falsk area near Strokestown on 16 December 2018.

The detained man, who is in his 50's, was arrested following a search of a house in Killoe.

He remains at Castlerea Garda Station, while investigations into the incident proceed.

The attack came a number of days after a group of men were filmed forcibly evicting a local family from the repossessed home.

Two other men are currently facing charges.

Yellow Wind Warning Issued For Friday

Met Éireann has issued a yellow weather warning to cover the entire country on Friday, 08 February.

It will be in place for most of the day, from 6am until 8pm.

High winds are expected, with a possibility of storm force winds along some coasts.

Wind Farm Academy To Boost Donegal
A National Wind Energy Academy is being established at Letterkenny Institute of Technology as part of a €500,000 initiative being backed by the Donegal County Development Board. The first phase will see the development of a wind turbine maintenance programme which will be delivered in conjunction with BZEE, a German centre for renewable energy.

Shooting Incident At Shopping Centre In Finglas
An appeal for information has been made by Gardaí following a shooting incident at a shopping centre in Finglas on Saturday, 09 April. The incident occurred in the car park of the Charlestown Shopping centre, near the fast food outlets, at around 6.15pm. No-one was injured in the shooting.

Man Arrested Following Tullamore Shooting
Gardaí at Tullamore Co Offaly investigating a shooting incident at Cluain Darach yesterday evening have arrested a male. At approximately 7pm on Sunday night a man in his 30s and a woman in her 20s were injured following a shooting incident outside a house in Cluain Darach, Tullamore by a lone gunman.
