Minister Welcomes Improved Visibility At Larne Junctions

Northern Ireland Roads Minister Conor Murphy has lauded the progress on a £2.3m investment package for the Larne area.

Mr Murphy highlighted the improved visibility at a number of junctions, including those at Ballyhampton Road/Old Ballyhampton Road and at Gobbins Road/Mullaghboy Road.

The Minister said plans were afoot to improve the junction visibility splays at Bridgend Road/Forthill Road later this year.

Mr Murphy continued: "Traffic Calming measures have been introduced in the Seacliff estate, Larne to address concerns about speeding vehicles, and a Pelican Crossing has been installed on the Old Glenarm Road near the cemetery.

"Improved warning signage with integrated flashing lights have been introduced at Corran Integrated Primary School, Old Glenarm Road and at Ballyboley Primary School, Braepark Road as part of an initiative aimed at enhancing traffic and speed management outside schools," he added.

Road Service's Principal Engineer, Terry Fulton, welcomed the continued investment in local transport and safety measures in Larne, which include traffic calming schemes, measures to assist cyclists and pedestrians and a programme of school travel and safety projects.

He said: "Roads Service will continue to concentrate on scheme delivery in the Larne Council area.

"We will minimise the disruption that will arise from our works and we will give motorists advance warning of road works through signage and information prior to works."
