Teens Injured At JLS X Factor Gig
Five teenage fans of X Factor finalists JLS have been injured at a free concert in London.
Four ambulances were called to the scene at Fairfield Halls in Croydon, south London, where a crowd of around 2,000 people gathered to hear the boy band perform.
It is believed the crowd swelled to the point where fans were being pushed forwards, resulting in a number of young people sustaining minor injuries.
London Ambulance Service said four girls were taken to hospital during the concert.
"We treated five patients. They were all teenage girls. Four of them were taken to Mayday Hospital in south London," said a spokesman.
"There was one with a hand injury, one with difficulty in breathing and two who were also just taken unwell.
"The fifth was treated at the scene."
One member of the public told the Croydon Guardian how she had been pulled from the crowd after suffering an asthma and panic attack.
"I'd been queuing since 1pm but when the school kids turned up it became so busy with them all pushing us towards the front," she said."There was a pregnant woman in the crowd. It was horrible. I couldn't move. I couldn't get out."
Met police officers arrived at the concert at around 4pm yesterday after they received "reports of crushing at a free music event".
Management at the Hall has declined to comment on the incident.
R&B four piece JLS made it through to this week's grand final after surviving the public vote on Saturday night.
The group will complete against female vocalist Alexandra Burke and baby-faced Irish teeny-bopper Eoghan Quigg to take the X Factor crown.

Four Britons escape Baghdad ambush
Four Britons travelling in a convoy in Baghdad have escaped uninjured after their vehicle was caught up in an ambush, it has been reported today. According to the BBC, two cars were raked by small arms fire and crashed in north west Baghdad yesterday. A crowd quickly surrounded the cars and set them alight.

Man Shot Dead In London Nightclub
Detectives are appealing for information after a 24-year-old man was shot dead in a south London nightclub. The man was shot in the SE1 nightclub on Weston Street at around 5.40am on Sunday 5 October, where he had been on a night out with his friends. It is understood he was approached by a man who produced a gun and shot him once from close range.
