Mother Charged With Schoolboy's Murder

A mother has been charged with the murder of her 11-year-old son who was found dead at their Kent home.

Jennifer Knight, 44, of Knights Croft, Ash Green, will appear before Dartford Magistrates' Court later today charged with murdering her son, James Taylor.

Police were called to their home on Monday, and Mrs Taylor was arrested after James' body was found on 2 December.

The 44-year-old was taken to hospital following the incident, and later discharged, to face questioning by officers from Kent Police’s major crime department. She was charged, the police said.

A post mortem examination has taken place, but police said a cause of death could not be determined until the results of further tests are known.

An inquest into the boy’s death is due to be opened at a later date.

James was a pupil at Wilmington Grammar School for Boys, near Dartford.

James' father, who lives outside the UK, was informed of his death after the body was found.
