Schoolboy killed by falling branch

A schoolboy who died when a tree branch collapsed on an adventure holiday has been named as Daniel Mullinger, 11, from Colchester in Essex.

Daniel was with a party of schoolchildren from Heathlands Primary School in West Bergholt near Colchester. The group were on an adventure break at Felbrigg Hall in Norfolk when the accident occurred.

Three other children, two boys and a girl, are being treated for crush injuries. One is said to be in a serious condition with pelvic injuries.

It is understood that the children were on an orienteering course as part of an activity organised by Aylmerton Field Study Centre Centre in Norfolk.

Essex Council said that support and counselling would be made available for pupils and staff.
