Billy Cox murder suspect released on bail

A 20-year-old man arrested in connection with the murder of London teenager Billy Cox has been released on police bail.

The suspect, believed to be the first person arrested in the inquiry, was arrested during a raid at a property near Clapham High Street on Wednesday.

Four other people were also arrested during the same raid, on suspicion of possessing controlled drugs with intent to supply.

Billy Cox was shot in the chest at his home in Clapham North in south London on Valentine's Day this year.

He was one of three teenagers shot within the space of a fortnight in south London in February this year.

His death followed that of James Andre Smartt-Ford, 16, who was shot dead at an ice rink in Streatham on February 3.

Michael Dosunmu, 15, was shot dead in his bedroom at his home in Peckham, three days after Billy Cox was murdered.

A gun crime summit was organised by politicians in the wake of the murders.
