Robbery at Newtownabbey bar

A bar on the Doagh Road in Newtownabbey has been robbed by a gang of men.

A male wearing a balaclava and gloves attacked a member of staff, who was locking up the premises at around 11.30pm on Tuesday. He was punched in the face and forced into the toilets.

A police spokesperson said that a number of other men then entered the premises.

The contents of the safe were stolen along with takings in gaming machines and a quantity of cigarettes.

Man Arrested For Headbutting Female Police Officer
A 22-year-old man has been arrested in Newry for assaulting a police officer. While responding to a domestic related report, a local female officer was headbutted to the head, which caused swelling and bruising. The officer was seen by medical staff and her injuries were not more serious and she felt well enough to remain on duty.

Three In Hospital After Police Vehicle Collides With Another Vehicle
Two police officers and a civilian remain in hospital following a collision in Newry on Saturday, 13 April. It is understood that the police officers were travelling in a police vehicle to attend a separate incident at about 7.30pm when they collided with another vehicle on the Fathom Road.

NI Man Jailed For Use Of Criminal Encrypted Communication Channel
A 44-year-old man has been sentenced to a total of 12 years for offences linked to EncroChat – an encrypted communication channel used by criminals. Michael O'Loughlin was arrested in 2020 following the search of a property as part of Operation Venetic, a UK wide operation by the National Crime Agency (NCA) designed to "dismantle EncroChat".
