Sinn Fein meet with Chief Constable
During today's meeting between a Sinn Fein delegation and Chief Constable Hugh Orde, Gerry Adams said that he believed that it was possible for the deadlock over the political issue to be resolved within the time-scale put forward by the British and Irish governments.
Speaking after the meeting, the Sinn Fein President said that the meeting with the Chief Constable was beneficial, however he added that he was still not in a position to call an ard chomhairle to change the party's policies on policing.
He said: "The ard chomhairle requires a two-thirds majority to call for an ard fheis.
"I am not in a position to call such an ard chomhairle meeting at this time. I'm sorry that this is the case because others are playing politics with the issue of policing.”
Mr Adams added that the issue of the transferring of powers on policing and justice from Westminster to Stormont must be resolved before the process can move forward.

The PSNI have issued a warning following the discovery of a "significant quantity" of tablets of County Down's Cloughey beach on the afternoon of Wednesday, 03 April. Officers responded to reports that large quantity of tablets in plastic blister packs had been found on the beach.

The PSNI Chief Constable has said that he is committed to working with the family of Sean Browne and others impacted by the disclosure limitations of the coronial process. Chief Constable, Jon Boutcher, made the commitment as he acknowledged the comments of the Coroner on the murder of GAA Official, Sean Browne, in 1997.
