Meetings held in attempt to break political deadlock
A new six-member sub-group is to meet at Stormont today in an attempt to break the current deadlock over the issue of policing in Northern Ireland.
The sub-group, which is made up of representatives from the DUP, Sinn Fein, the UUP and the SDLP, will meet up over the next four weeks in a bid to come to an agreement as to when policing powers can be transferred to a future Stormont power-sharing executive.
The policing issue is the main problem at present standing in the way of a devolved government being established.
The DUP have refused to sign up to an all-party power-sharing agreement until Sinn Fein openly pledge their support for the PSNI.
Meanwhile, Sinn Fein want the DUP to agree to a date when policing powers can be transferred to the new Stormont Assembly.
The sub-group of the Stormont Preparation for Government Committee will have until January 3 to come up with proposals.

A 59-year-old man wanted in the Republic of Ireland has been arrested in south Belfast by the PSNI's International Policing Unit. Wanted to stand trial for drugs offences that occurred in the Kilkenny area in 2012.
