BB's Makosi questioned by immigration
Makosi Musambasi, a contestant on the recent series of reality TV show ‘Big Brother’, has been questioned by immigration officials.
The 24-year-old, who is originally from Zimbabwe, was taken in by police on Monday because she may have breached the conditions of her visa by appearing on the Channel 4 show.
Miss Musambasi was granted a work permit to come to Britain and work as a cardiac nurse. However, she may have invalidated the terms of the permit by leaving her job to appear as a contestant on the show.
Police stopped Makosi, who was the second runner-up in the reality show behind Eugene Sully and winner Anthony Hutton, on Monday after reportedly spotting her travelling in her sister’s car without wearing a seatbelt. She was taken to Staines Police station in Middlesex for questioning.
A spokesperson for Surrey Police said: “Police stopped a car on the M25 near Stoke D’Abernon at 5pm yesterday on a driving matter. A 24-year-old Zimbabwean was then questioned by the immigration services which is now dealing with the matter.”
It is understood that Makosi reapplied for a visa after leaving the Big Brother house.
The Home Office said that immigration officials would question any foreign national who left the job for which they had been granted a work permit.

65th Person Arrested In Operation Elveden
Met detectives investigating suspected corruption have arrested a former immigration centre employee. Officers from Operation Elveden arrested the 40-year-old man at his home in Slough, Berkshire, around 06:00 this morning (Wednesday). According to the BBC he is being held on suspicion of corruption and misconduct in public office.

A Luton business man who used one of his restaurants as a cover for an immigration scam has been convicted. Gyash Uddin, 39, of Ivy Road, sponsored visa applications for family members from Bangladesh to come to the UK where he then employed them at his restaurant Moja, in Mill Road, Leighton Buzzard.

Report finds support for annual immigration limit
Three-quarters of the British public support the introduction of an annual immigration limit, according to a poll by campaign group Migrationwatch UK. The survey, conducted by YouGov, found that 76% of respondents questioned supported an annual limit on the number of immigrants allowed to come to Britain.
