Four juveniles arrested following disturbances

Four juveniles have been charged with public order offences following disturbances in north Belfast.

The arrests came after police officers came under attack from stone throwers on the Limestone Road at about 1pm on Thursday.

Following the arrests, District Commander for north Belfast, Chief Superintendent Mike Little said that as well as deploying proactive policing patrols with extra police resources at interfaces, officers were also continuing to study CCTV footage taken from a number of areas.

“Police are working tirelessly to bring interface violence to an end but we cannot do it alone," Chief Superintendent Little said. "Communities know who are behind the attacks on homes and the disturbances at interfaces. I am asking them to bring this information to us. By using their influence, communities can help stop these senseless attacks."

All four juveniles were due to appear at Belfast Magistrates Court on Friday.
