Former ‘Coronation Street’ star in court on rape charge
Former ‘Coronation Street’ actor, Christopher Quinten, has appeared in court to face rape charges.
The 48-year-old actor, most famous for his role as mechanic Brian Tilsley, in the long-running soap, appeared at Horseferry Magistrates Court in London under his real name, Christopher Bell.
Mr Quinten is charged with allegedly attacking a woman in her twenties in the 10 Room nightclub in Air Street in the capital on June 25.
The actor, whose other credits include roles in the films ‘International Velvet’ and ‘Robocop 2’, as well as the sci-fi series ‘Quatermass’, was ordered to appear before Middlesex Guildhall Crown Court for a plea hearing on December 7.
Mr Quinten was ordered not to contact the alleged victim. He will also have to report to a London police station three times week and had to surrender his passport.
Speaking outside the court on Wednesday, Mr Quinten’s solicitor, Richard Egan, said that he had always denied the allegation made against him.

Abu Hamza remanded in custody
The radical Muslim cleric Abu Hamza al-Masri has been remanded in custody at Bow Street Magistrates Court today. Abu Hamza, who faces a total of nine charges, appeared by videolink from Belmarsh prison. He was remanded in prison until July 23. The 46-year-old was arrested on May 27 on an extradition warrant served by the US government.

Manslaughter Charge For Man Over Railway Death
A man has appeared in court today charged with the manslaughter of a woman who died after being hit by a train in Essex. Darren Palmer, 38, from Clacton appeared before Colchester Magistrates Court today, charged with the manslaughter of Kelly Mack. He was remanded in custody and is due to appear before Chelmsford Crown Court on June 23.

Man Faces Baby Murder Charge
A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a four-month-old baby girl. Craig Jamieson, 28, from Scotscoun, appeared before Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday, where he was remanded in custody. Mr Jamieson was arrested on Friday, shortly after the baby died in Glasgow's Yorkhill Hospital, after being taken from her home in Partick.
