Police and fire crews stoned during disturbances

Police and fire crews have come under attack during disturbances in Londonderry overnight.

A gang of youths threw stones at the Fire and Rescue Service personnel as they tried to deal with a burning car in Frederick Street at about 3am on Wednesday.

One police officer suffered a minor head injury in the incident in which police made two arrests.

Earlier, a petrol bomb and missiles were thrown at police in Derry's Fountain Estate, however no-one was injured in the attack.

Appeal Following Petrol Bomb Attack In Banbridge
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information following a petrol bomb attack in Banbridge, in the early hours of Tuesday 19th March. It was reported that at around 2.10am on Tuesday morning, two petrol bombs were thrown at the back wall of a house in the Castlewellan Road area, causing scorch damage to the wall and a window frame.

Police Officers Disciplined For Failing To Tell Doctor About Woman's Head Injuries
Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

ASSEMBLY CREATE AWARD TO HONOUR FIRE SERVICE

Police Service to receive £16m additional funding
The Northern Ireland Security Minister Jane Kennedy has announced the police service is set to receive £16 million this year to cover extra spending pressures. Ms Kennedy made the announcement during Northern Ireland questions in the House of Commons on Wednesday February 13.
