PSNI issue crime prevention appeal to NI fans
Police have warned thousands of Northern Ireland supporters travelling to Saturday’s game against England in Manchester to take extra caution with regard to crime prevention.
Officers said that by securing all valuables, such as wallets, credit cards, keys and match tickets, fans can ensure they do not become a victim of theft. They are also advising people who do not have tickets not to fall foul of touts outside the ground.
Chief Superintendent Stephen Grange, South Belfast DCU Commander said: "We have been working very closely with our colleagues in Greater Manchester Police and the Irish Football Association in regards to this match.
“We all want this game to be a great occasion for all, regardless of the result, and that is why we are issuing this crime prevention advice today."
A leaflet has already been issued with match tickets giving advice on Old Trafford Stadium, methods of public transport, coach travel and general public safety.
A number of PSNI officers will also be present in Manchester to liaise with representatives of supporters' groups and Greater Manchester Police.

PSNI detectives have issued an appeal for information and witnesses after a man was assaulted and robbed in Antrim during the early hours of Monday, 18 March. The 26-year-old was walking in an alleyway adjacent to Seacash Drive at around 3.50am when he was approached by two men.
