Gun attack was attempted murder say police

Police are treating a gun attack on a house in Co Armagh as attempted murder.

A couple and their 17-year-old son were in the property in the Meadow Brook area of Craigavon when three shots were fired shortly before 9m pm on Tuesday.

A family car was hit by the first shot while a second shot smashed a bathroom window as a woman was running upstairs to check on her husband and son. A third blast also smashed a bedroom window.

Detectives investigating the incident said they were not treating the attack as sectarian and do not think paramilitaries were involved. However, they said the family were extremely fortunate to have escaped unharmed.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 028 9065 0222 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
