British diplomat charged over plane disturbance

A British diplomat who was arrested following a disturbance on a flight has been charged with being drunk on an aircraft and using threatening behaviour.

Defence attaché Colonel Peter Roberts MBE, was held on board a flight from Bangkok after it landed at Heathrow on February 17.

The 50-year-old, who is based in Thailand, is due to appear at Uxbridge Magistrates Court in west London on March 11.

Colonel Roberts was reportedly involved in the relief effort, which took place following the Asian tsunami, which struck parts of western Thailand on Boxing Day last year.
