Cookstown firm bids for national award
A Cookstown company that designs, manufactures and installs electrical control panels has won the Northern Ireland regional final in one of the UK's leading small business awards.
TES (NI) Ltd beat off competition from 157 small businesses in Northern Ireland and will now go through to the Parcelforce Worldwide Small Business Awards national final in October.
Commenting on their success, Noel McCracken, Director TES (NI) Ltd said: "Over the past few years, our aim has been to develop TES (NI) Ltd into a highly professional manufacturing enterprise.
"We believe the key to our success is the personal attention to every detail of every project and it is great to have our achievements recognised by being handpicked by industry professionals as the Regional Winner of the Parcelforce Worldwide Small Business Awards."
Judging the Northern Ireland regional final were Jamie Delargy, Business Correspondent of UTV, Mike Mills, Managing Director of Ulster Carpet Mills, Denis Rooney, Chairman of the Institute of Directors NI and Renah Shepherd, General Manager of Parcelforce Worldwide NI.
Chairing the judging panel was Sir John Semple, Director of Northern Ireland Affairs, Royal Mail Group, who added: "TES (NI) Ltd is an excellent business, with a sound financial base, an eye for the future, excellent relationships with customers and employees, combined with dedication and determination to succeed in a very competitive field."

Minister's Welcome NI's Inclusion In Post Office Offences Bill
Minister's have welcomed a decision to include Northern Ireland in the Post Office (Horizon System) Offences Bill. The decision by the UK Government follows strong representations by the Executive Ministers to ensure that those affected here are treated on the same basis as their counterparts elsewhere.

Small business sector 'confident but concerned'
A new report has revealed that over half of Northern Ireland's small businesses have been victims of crime during the past year. The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) 'Lifting the Barriers to Growth' Biennial Membership Survey 2004 examined issues and problems relating to small business growth in the province.

Green Light For Business Park In Crumlin
Environment Minister Mark H Durkan has said planning approval has been recommended for a business park near Crumlin. The plans are for 23 small business units and 2,000 square metres of floor-space and would be located on part of a former World War Two Air Force camp site which is associated with the Langford Lodge airfield.

An Alliance MLA is encouraging Northern Ireland shoppers to support local traders on Small Business Saturday on 7 December. Judith Cochrane is Chair of the Assembly Group on SMEs. She proposed a cross party motion on this issue in the Assembly on Monday.

£5m Fund For NI Businesses
A new £5m fund has been launched to help small businesses in Northern Ireland. The NI Small Business Loan Fund is part of Invest Northern Ireland’s Access to Finance Strategy. Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster announced the fund, which will be delivered by Ulster Community Investment plc (UCI).
