Al-Qaeda Attack Plans Uncovered
Western intelligence agencies are tracking serious al-Qaeda attack plans on cities in Germany, France and Britain.
The suspected plot is believed to be in its early stages and involves jihadists seizing and murdering Western hostages.
The national threat level remains at its current 'severe' level.
The plan is understood to include well-armed commando-style teams of jihadist militants, inspired by al-Qaeda's fugitive core leadership in Pakistan's tribal areas.
The move is thought to be in the planning stages, initial details of which were leaked to the US press.
Both Germany and France remain on a heightened state of security alert.

More than 198,000 British nationals moved overseas last year, bringing the total number of Brits abroad to more than 5.5 million, according to new research from the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR).

Britons On Stricken Beirut Flight
Two British nationals are among 90 people feared dead after a plane crashed following take-off from the Lebanese capital Beirut. So far 21 bodies have been recovered from the stricken Boeing 737 remains floating in the Mediterranean. The plane, bound for Addis Ababa in Ethiopia, plummeted into the sea in a ball of fire, according to sources.
