Cameron 'Must Help PMS With Financial Crisis'

A former Presbyterian moderator has called for the government to help the Presbyterian Mutual Society's (PMS) financial crisis.

Thousands of investors face losing their savings after the PMS went into administration in November 2008.

A ministerial working group chaired by Secretary of State Owen Wilson has been set up to help resolve the situation and is due to meet again on 8 September.

In a statement, Rev Dr Stafford Carson reminded the group of David Cameron's pre-election pledge, to find a just resolution.

Rev Stafford said that he was in "no doubt that only an outcome which removes the discriminatory treatment suffered so far by PMS savers and gives all of them early access to 100% of their money can be regarded as just and fair".
