Magna Donnelly to close with 280 jobs loss

Around 280 jobs are to be lost at Magna Donnelly's plant in County Kildare.

The company, which has been based in Naas since 1968, blamed costs and intense competition for its decision to close the operation.

Minister for Enterprise, Trade & Employment Micheál Martin expressed his deep disappointment at the announcement by Magna Donnelly that they are to close their operations.

The Minister said. “Magna Donnelly has provided valuable employment in Naas over a long number of years and its closure will come as a shock to both the workers employed in this operation and the wider community”

“I have asked that every support will be made available to the staff of the company by the state agencies to assist those affected by this announcement to find alternative employment as soon as possible."

The company is entering into a 30-day consultation period with workers.
