Color Communications Europe Announces 20 New Jobs
Colour merchandising company Color Communications Europe Ltd., based in Castlerea, has announced 20 new jobs.
The parent company, Color Communications Inc., was founded in Chicago in 1972. Color Communications Europe Limited was set up in September 1993 in the County Roscommon town.
The company is at the forefront of global colour merchandising, manufacturing colour sampling tools for paint, wood-stain, automotive and paper. Color Communications' R&D successes include several patented processes.
The 20 extra workers will be taken on over the next five years.
The expansion of the company's Irish operation is supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through IDA Ireland.

Zevas Communications Announces 50 New Jobs
Pádraic Vallely, Fianna Fáil local election candidate for the Ballincollig-Carrigaline area, said he was delighted to attend the announcement by Zevas Communications that 50 new jobs will be created at the company. Zevas Communications currently employs over 200 staff members at its offices in Cork, Dublin, Hamburg, Madrid and San Francisco.

M&S Drivers' Strike Looms
It looks likely today that deliveries to Marks and Spencer stores throughout the UK will be hit by a threatened drivers' strike. Some 100 staff at worldwide courier company DHL's centre in Mallusk near Belfast and two depots in England are considering walking out after a pay freeze, the union Unite said.

The future for a struggling Pennyburn fan belt factory, which currently employs around 110 people, is looking bleak. The manufacturing plant, Arntz Belting Company, went to a three-day week in December and also sought 28 redundancies in March. However, the global recession has led to the firm's parent company looking at further cuts.

News that the Irish Planning Appeals board has rejected proposals to build a contentious hotel development in Tipperary will disappoint local building contractors. The development, which received strong opposition from locals, was to be built on a Cashel site, formerly owned by the Presentation Sisters.
