61% Of People 'Have Fallen Asleep At Work'
A new survey has revealed more than 60% of people have fallen asleep at work.
The research, conducted by Peninsula Ireland, found 61% of employees had fallen asleep at work. 72% however, admitted they regularly consumed caffeinated drinks at work in order to stay awake.
Interestingly, the number of those falling asleep in the office or work place has actually fallen from the previous year (69%).
The findings have been described as a "rude awakening" for employers.
Alan Price, Managing Director at Peninsula Ireland, is quoted by RTÉ as saying: "In sectors that require a high level of concentration, and a clear understanding of health and safety processes and requirements, falling asleep mid-task could cause a fatal accident."
"For employees regularly driving long-distances for work, a lapse in concentration could cost more than just the repairs of a damaged company vehicle, people's lives are at stake," he added.

Employees Go Back To Work Following Protest
Workers have gone back to work after holding a protest outside the Great Island power station in County Wexford. Over 60 employees took part in the protest over the possibility that some of them would be replaced by a Spanish scaffolding contractor. However, an agreement was made in a meeting yesterday and the workers returned this morning.

Search Operation Resumes For Man Feared To Have Fallen Into The Sea
A search and rescue operation has resumed for a 19-year-old man, feared to have fallen into the sea in Co Clare. The operation was launched on Monday when a report was received that the man was missing at about 11am. It is understood he has not been seen since Sunday night.
