Man Arrested After Smashing 16 Windows On Dart Train

Irish Rail Workers tackled and restrained a man who had broken 16 windows on a Dart train using two emergency hammers.

The incident happened on Thursday at about 16:30 at Bray Train Station. The train was parked at the time and there were no passengers in the carriage that the man attacked.

Staff restrained the man until gardaí arrived, who arrested him on suspicion of criminal damage.

Garda Appeal For Witnesses After Jogger Attacked In Drogheda

Gardaí in Co Louth have appealed for witnesses to a suspected attacked on a jogger in Drogheda.

It is understood that a woman was jogging along the Ramparts walk at about 9am on Thursday morning, when she was attacked by a man. Garda have said that during a struggle both the woman and man fell into the River Boyne.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact garda.

EU To Review Govt's Revised Water Charges

The European Commission is to review the government's revised water charges.

It is to be carried out as part of the EU's review of Ireland's progress following the EU IMF bailout.

According to a report by RTÉ the EU commission is "surprised" at the revisions.

Missing Cork Man Found 'Safe And Well'
A missing 52-year-old man from Cork has been found 'safe and well', garda have reported. John Ryan was last seen in the Shanakiel area of Cork City on Wednesday, 24 May. However, Mr Ryan has now been located and no further action is required.

Missing Co Mayo Man Found 'Safe And Well'
Missing Co Mayo man, David Duffy, has been found safe and well, garda have reported. Garda had issued an appeal for help in tracing 36-year-old Mr Duffy, who had not been seen since Sunday. Garda have thanked the public for their help and said that no further action is needed.

Man Dies In Stabbing Incident
A 30-year-old has died and a second man has been injured in a stabbing incident in Tullamore, Co Offaly, shortly after 7am this morning. It is believed there had been an argument in a house in the area and a Polish man was killed. The other man's injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

New National Train Control Centre Approved
Ireland's rail services will be expanded over the coming years following the approval of a new National Train Control Centre, the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Shane Ross, has announced.

Minister Opens New Train Station
Minister for Transport Noel Dempsey has officially opened a new train station near Phoenix Park. The station, which is on the grounds of the old racecourse, near the Navan Road, will be served by Maynooth line commuter trains. Eighty-eight trains a day will serve the station and will link with Connolly, Tara Street, Pearse and Docklands stations.
