Gardai Appeal For Information On Co Donegal Murder Victims Car

Gardaí in Co Donegal have issued a new appeal for information on the deaths of Jimmy and Kathleen Cuddihy in Carndonagh.

The superintendent in charge of the investigation appealed for information from anyone who may have seen the family car between 16:00 on Wednesday 22 October and 09.35 on Thursday 23 October.

The silver Skoda Octavia saloon (reg 10 DL 274) was found on Thursday morning at a lakeside in the townland of Mindoran, Clonmany.

Anyone who saw the car is asked to contact Buncrana Garda Station.

First Irish Water Bills To Be Issued At End Of January

The first water bills will be issued at the end of January, Irish Water has announced.

Commission for Energy Regulation has accepted a proposal from Irish Water to extend the validation campaign beyond the end of October. It will now run until the end of November, with the first bills issued in January.

New Hep C Drug Available 'Within Weeks'

Minister for Health Leo Varadkar has announced an new early access programme for a new Hepatitis C drug.

Up to 200 patients will be given access to the drug "within weeks", subject to an agreement with the drug makers on price.

The drug, Sovaldi, has been shown to cure the virus.

New Powers Allow For Roadside Drug Testing
The Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Shane Ross has announced the commencement of the drug driving provisions in the Road Traffic Act 2016. One of the key measures in the legislation provides for Preliminary Drug Testing, which will enable Gardaí to test motorists whom they suspect of driving under the influence of drugs at the roadside.

Gardaí Arrest 45 In Major Drugs Operation
A total of 45 people have been arrested in the past 48 hours in Gardaí a crackdown on the sale and supply of heroin and “crack” cocaine in the Dublin region. The operation, which involved Garda drug units from Kevin Street, Pearse Street and Store Street stations, resulted in 150 charges being brought, according to Gardaí this morning.

Two Arrested In Connection With Dublin Drug Supply
Two men have been arrested in Dublin as part of a gardaí investigation into the supply of drugs in the city. Gardaí said the men, from Eastern Europe, were arrested by the Ballymun Drugs Unit in an underground car park on Tuesday night. It is understood the drugs, worth an estimated €500,000, were seized during the operation.

International Drug Lord Suspected Over 'Don' Murder
It has emerged that Gardaí are pursuing a theory that the weekend murder of Eamon 'the Don' Dunne was ordered by an international drug lord. Reports today suggest that the gang leader Dunne may have upset an overseas trafficker, who regularly imported large drugs shipments here.
