Man, 64, Arrested On Suspicion Of 1977 Kidnapping

Gardaí have arrested a 64-year-old man in connection with the disappearance of Mary Boyle more than 37 years ago.

The six-year-old girl went missing from her grandparents house in Cashelard, Ballyshannon, on 18 March 1977.

It is understood that she had followed her uncle across a field near the house before turning to walk back to the house. She hasn't been seen since.

Gardaí say that a three-year review of the case has now led them to making an arrest. A man is being held on suspicion of kidnapping.

Detectives also renewed an appeal for information on the child's disappearance, urging anyone with any information to contact Ballyshannon Garda Station on 071-9858530 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666-111.
