GAA Footballer Releases Statement Following Attack

Dublin GAA footballer, Jonny Cooper, has released a statement thanking everyone for their support, after he was attacked in Dublin on 20 September.

Mr Cooper, 24, was stabbed on Upper Dorset Street, and was treated at Mater Hospital for injuries to his face, head and neck.

He tweeted a link to a statement "sincerely" thanking everyone for their "enormous" support.

The statement also said: "Dublin is a great place; it is a safe place and it is my home. If nothing else, this can be a lesson that when you're out, stay safe and stick together."

A man arrested in connection with the attack has been released without charge.

A file is being prepared for the DPP.

Father Of Three Children Found Dead In Dublin Releases Statement
The father of three children who were found dead in Dublin has released a statement and has said there is only "devastation, grief and anguish". The three children, Conor, Darragh and Carla were found at their home in Newcastle last Friday. Gardai are waiting to be given permission to interview their mother.

Polish Murder Trial Accused Named
The Dublin youth standing trail for the murders of two Polish men in Dublin on February has been named. David Curran, 18, from Lissadel Green in Drimnagh, Dublin 12, was named after he recently turned 18 and is no longer protected as a juvenile. He stands trial for two counts of murder of Pawel Kalite and Marius Szwajkos.

Man Injured In Dublin Attack
A man has been injured in a serious attack in Dublin. It happened in Kearn's Place at around 2am this morning. The victim, believed to be in his 30s, was slashed across the face. He is currently at St James's Hospital, where his injuries are being described as "superficial".
