Homes In Cork Made Available To 24 Families On Waiting List
Homes in a former unfinished development in Bandon, County Cork, are being made available to 24 families on Cork County Council's housing waiting list.
The houses are through a partnership between NABCO, the national co-operative housing provider, and NAMA.
The homes at the Tannery in Bandon are a mix of two-, three- and four-bedroom houses with open plan living spaces and attractive landscaped gardens close to the centre of the busy west Cork town. NABCO has previously worked with NAMA to deliver a housing development in Cobh, Co Cork that provided homes for 13 local families.
The housing model developed by NABCO allows tenants of social rented properties to become shareholding members of their local co-operative. The distinctive structure gives members a greater say in how their estate, and the wider housing co-operative movement, is operated.

Sinn Féin's Opposition To Housing Plans 'Almost Beyond Belief' - Dowds
Sinn Féin's opposition to a proposal to build 50 new social housing units in Clondalkin has been described as an "absolutely disgrace and almost beyond belief". Labour TD Robert Dowds accused Cllr Eoin Ó Broin of "complete political cowardice", and that it was people on the housing waiting list that would suffer as a result.
