Two Killed In Co Laois Road Accident

Two people have died following a road traffic accident in Co Laois.

At around 6am this morning (25 July), a bike and a van collided on the N80 Portlaoise to Carlow road, between the village of Arles and Simmons Mill.

It is understood a motorcyclist and pillion passenger were killed in the incident.

The road remains closed and local diversions are in place for motorists.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to contact them.

Missing Man Body Recovered From Lake
The body of missing Crossmaglen man Padraig Campbell has been found. The 37-year-old’s body was recovered from a lake in Co Monaghon last night. Campbell, of Drumbroy Road, Castleblaney, has been missing from the 18 March. Gardai have described his death as a tragic accident, however a post-mortem will be carried out.

Witnesses Sought Following Fatal Road Accident In Co Louth
Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to a fatal road accident in Collon, Co Louth. The single vehicle road accident happened at about 1am on Tuesday morning close to Brannigan's Cross on the Collon to Tinure Road. A 32-year-old man, the sole occupant of the car, suffered serious injuries when his car left the road and struck a ditch.

66-Year-Old Man Killed In Road Accident In Co Kildare
Gardaí have issued an appeal for witnesses to a fatal road traffic collision in Co Kildare. A 66-year-old man was fatally injured when a car he was driving collided with a truck at around 2.45pm at Kilmurray, Johnstown Bridge on Thursday, 10 November.

Motorcyclist Killed In Co Tipperary Road Accident
Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to a fatal road accident in Co Tipperary. A 25-year-old male motorcyclist was fatally injured when he collided with a sign on the R689 at Fennor, Urlingford at about 20:45 on Thursday night. The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his body removed to Kilkenny Hospital.

18-Year-Old Cyclist Killed In Road Accident In Co Cork
Gardaí in Co Cork have appealed for witnesses following the death of an 18-year-old male cyclist. The male teenager was seriously injured when he collided with a car at Barley Hill on the Clonakilty to Skibbereen Road at about 19:00 on Tuesday. He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has been removed to Cork University Hospital.
