Garda Appeal After Man Killed In Hit-And-Run

Gardaí in Galway have reported that a man in his 60s has been killed in a hit-and-run incident in Loughrea on Wednesday night.

According to garda the man was cycling when his bicycle was hit by a car at about 20:30 close to pedestrian lights on the Gort Road.

It is believed that the man was hit by a blue BMW, with a partial registration of 01 g. It is understood that the vehicle drove off in the direction of Gort.

The man died at University College Hospital Galway at about 2am on Thursday.

Gardaí say the car would have visible damage to the front and it is also believed that a rear right light was not working.

The road has been closed for a forensic examination and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to contact Loughrea Garda Station at 091-842870.

Missing 25-Year-Old Man Found 'Safe And Well'
A 25-year-old man who was missing from Harcourt Street in Dublin has been found safe and well, Gardaí have reported. Simon Quinn was reported missing after last being seen at around 2.30am on Monday, 30 July. However, Mr Quinn has now been found and Gardaí said they wish to thank the media and public for their assistance.

Garda Appeal For Witnesses To Fatal Road Accident
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses of a fatal road accident in Co Kerry. A 24-year-old man died when the car he was driving hit a wall on the N69 Tralee-Listowel Road in Glenballyma in Tralee. The accident happened at about 21:45 on Saturday. A post-mortem is due to be carried out today.

Three Men Hit By Car Fleeing From Garda
Three men are being treated in hospital after being hit by a car which was being pursued by gardaí. Gardaí have said a Hyundai Accent struck three men, aged in their 70s, and crashed into two parked cars outside the pitch and putt course in Parteen, Co Clare, at about 17:00 on Thursday.

Gardai Appeal For Witnesses Following M4 Incident
Gardaí at Mullingar are investigating an incident which occurred on the M4, one km from Kinnegad on the eastbound lane at approximately 4pm yesterday, Monday 24th June. It appears from initial investigations that a car, believed to be a dark coloured Opel Zafira, caught fire. A man believed to be in his early 50s was found deceased in the car.

70-Year-Old Man Arrested Over Fatal Accident That Killed Cyclist
A 70-year-old man has been arrested by gardaí investigating a fatal road traffic accident in Gneeveguilla, Co Kerry. A cyclist was fatally injured when hit by a car in Scrahanfadda, on Sunday, 01 July. The elderly man is being detained at Bandon Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4- Criminal Justice Act 1984.
