River Liffey To Get A Floating Marina And Pool

Dublin Docklands Development Authority (DDDA) has today announced plans to build a swimming pool and a marina in the middle of the River Liffey.

The project forms part of the River Regeneration Strategy for Dublin Docklands.

As yet the exact location for the plans has not been chosen.

A water-based regeneration strategy was introduced by the DDDA in 2001 with the objective of maximising the amenity potential of the River Liffey.

The authority has put forward a tender for engineering design services - to include the design, development and installation of the floating marina and swimming pool.

The DDDA is also looking for business consultants to analyse the social and economic feasibility of the project.

Construction on the pool and marina is expected to start next year.
