42 Arrests Made In Project Storm Operation In Co Kilkenny

A total of 42 people have been arrested as part of Operation Thor – Project Storm in County Kilkenny.

During the operation carried out on Wednesday, 11 October, drugs worth an estimated €20,000 and five vehicles were seized.

The purpose of the operation was to prevent crime, disrupt criminal activity, apprehend criminals and to enhance Community engagement. The operation included Garda checkpoints and Community Gardaí informing members of the public to increase awareness of protection of personal property and possessions.

As part of the operation Gardaí conducted the following:

• 77 checkpoints 

• 21 premises searched

• 27 arrests for theft, assault, fraud, burglary and drugs offences 

• 15 arrests on warrant

• Five vehicles seized (three under Section 41, two for PSV offences) 

• 21 properties searched 

• Total of €20,000 worth of Drugs seized from 11 incidents

Seventeen people are currently detained at Kilkenny and Carlow Garda Stations under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 and a further 10 have been charged to appear before the courts in the coming weeks.

Operation Storm also concentrates on interaction with local clubs and organisations. Crime Prevention stands were set up over the course of the Operation giving information leaflets throughout the community.

Drugs Seized And 15 Arrests Made In 'Operation Reuben'
Gardaí have arrested a total of 15 people in Co Cork as part of a major anti-drug operation. Dubbed "Operation Reuben", Cork City Divisional Drugs Unit moved in and arrested 15 people within 48 hours following "a lengthy drugs operation". Of those arrested, 11, of which two are female, have been charged.

Arrests Follow Dublin Drugs And Arms Seizure
A man and a woman have been arrested after a search in Dublin recovered a quantity of drugs and a loaded weapon. The planned operation, carried out by Gardaí in Finglas, culminated in a search of a house in the Casement area of West Finglas in Dublin at approximately 1pm on Thursday.

Arrests Follow Drugs Bust
As part of an ongoing operation targeting the sale and supply of drugs in the Finglas area, Gardaí from the Blanchardstown and Finglas District Drugs Unit searched a house in the Lanesborough area of Finglas on Thursday. This search was carried out under Operation Anvil.

28 Arrests Made In Operation Thor Investigation In Kilkenny And Carlow
Gardaí have arrested 28 people in counties Kilkenny and Carlow as part of an Operation Thor investigation. A series of planned searches were carried out in a number of locations in both counties.
