Witnesses Sought To Fatal Collision On N4 Lucan

Gardaí have issued appeal for witnesses to a fatal road traffic collision on the N4 in Lucan.

A 32-year-old man was seriously injured when the car he was driving left the carriageway and struck a wall shortly before 1pm on the city bound approach to junction 4A.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later. There was no one else travelling in the car at the time.

The scene was attended by emergency services personnel and the man's body was later removed by ambulance to the mortuary at Connolly Hospital. The Coroner has been notified and a post-mortem examination will be carried out.

Garda forensic collision investigators have concluded an examination of the crash site and the road has since reopened to traffic.

Four Killed On Irish Roads This Weekend

John Gallagher, 55, and his 24-year-old son Sean died when their car collided with another vehicle at Burt on Saturday morning. Off-Duty Garda Attacked With Samurai Sword
A court has heard how an off-duty garda was attacked with a samurai sword as he chased two men who had just robbed a shop. Detective Garda Shane Kelly saw the raiders flee from the scene and chased them in his personal car. When he cornered their vehicle near Lucan one of the raiders used the sword to smash the detective’s windscreen.

Two People Killed In Co Cork Road Traffic Collision
Two people have been killed in a road traffic collision in Co Cork yesterday, 05 April. The incident happened at around 5:10pm on the N20 Cork to Limerick Road one mile outside Mallow. The occupants of one car, a male and female both in their 70's, were killed in the collision.

Man Dies In Galway Crash
A man has been killed in a road crash in Co. Galway. The two-car collision happened on the main Gort to Ennis Road near the Galway-Clare border around 7:30am this morning. The victim is understood to be the driver of one of the vehicles, while the driver of the other vehicle was also injured and has been taken to hospital.

Four Men Dead In Separate Collisions
A total of four men have died in a spate of separate car collisions over the weekend. In the most recent incident, a motorcyclist collided with a pick-up truck towing a trailer, resulting in the death of the motorcyclist, a man in his late 20s. The collision which occurred at Cloghnadromin, Ballysimon, CoLimerick at approx 1.30pm on Sunday.
