Woman Escapes Unharmed From Hostage Situation

A man is being treated in hospital following a hostage situation in south-east Dublin yesterday morning.

Gardaí reported that they attended the scene of a "disturbance" at a house in Ballyogan Green, Dublin, at around 11.20am on Thursday, 16 February.

Upon arrival it was discovered that a woman was being held hostage in the house by a man, armed with a suspected firearm.

Following negotiation with the man, the woman was released from the house unharmed, and at around 3.30pm the man also surrendered to gardaí. A replica firearm was recovered in the house.

Gardaí said that the man, aged in his 40s, was taken to hospital for treatment and that their investigations are ongoing.

Missing 25-Year-Old Man Found 'Safe And Well'
A 25-year-old man who was missing from Harcourt Street in Dublin has been found safe and well, Gardaí have reported. Simon Quinn was reported missing after last being seen at around 2.30am on Monday, 30 July. However, Mr Quinn has now been found and Gardaí said they wish to thank the media and public for their assistance.

Garda Appeal For Witnesses To Fatal Road Accident
Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to a fatal road traffic collision in Dundalk on Thursday, 10 December. A 69-year-old man died in hospital following the collision on the Inner Relief Road in Dundalk at about 17:00, garda have reported. It is understood the man was driving a car that was involved in a collision with a bus.

Body Found In Search For Missing Woman
Gardaí investigating the disappearance of Pamela Kenny have confirmed they have found a body. Ms Kenny, 52, was last seen in Delwood, Castleknock, on Monday (2 March) at around 10.30am. An appeal was launched into her whereabouts. Gardaí have since confirmed the body is that of Ms Kenny.

Investigation Launches Into Fatal House Fire
Gardaí are investigating the cause of a house fire in Stoneybatter on Sunday that killed a 53-year-old man and left a 90-year-old woman in hospital. According to reports a relative was alerted to the situation at the house when the elderly woman activated her Medi Alert panic button.

Michael Barry Acquitted In Toyosi Murder Case
A judge has directed the acquittal that Dublin man, Michael Barry, is to be acquitted of a murder charge of Toyosi Shittabey in April 2010. 15 year old Toyosi was stabbed on Good Friday following an argument between a group of friends and the Barry brothers.
