Investigation Launched Into Alleged Rape At Private Hospital
An investigation has been launched into the alleged rape of a patient at a private hospital in Tralee, Co Kerry.
According to reports, a woman contacted garda earlier this month claiming that she had been raped during a medical examination at the Bon Secours Hopsital.
It is understood that part of the hospital was sealed, declared a crime scene and examined by garda crime scene investigators.
The woman, understood to be aged in her 60s, was examined by a specialist sexual assault unit and has been offered counselling.
Gardaí confirmed that they have interviewed a number of people in connection with the investigation and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Garda urged anyone with any information relating to the investigation to contact them.

Woman's Body Found In County Laoise
Gardai are continuing with their investigations after the discovery of a woman's body in County Laoise. The woman, believed to be in her 30s, was found at a flat in Mountrath. The alarm was raised shortly after 8pm on Friday. A man in his 30s has been arrested in relation to the incident and is detained at Portlaoise Garda Station.

Body Exhumed In Search For Missing Man
Gardaí investigating the disappearance of a man in 1987 have exhumed a body after a tip off. Brian McGrath, aged then 43, was last seen in 1987. Early on Monday morning Gardai exhumed remains at Whitehall Cemetery, Coole, Co Westmeath to be taken to Dublin City Morgue for additional post mortem examination and further tests.

Body Found In Burnt Out Car 'Not Suspicious'
The body of a woman has been found in a burnt out car in Co Kildare. Gardaí have said that the body was discovered at around 11:30 today in a vehicle on a car park in Eadestown. However, garda added that they believe the death to have been a "personal tragedy" and are not treating it as suspicious.

A man has been arrested after being disarmed by Gardaí during a shooting incident outside a Dublin leisure centre. Gardaí in Lucan are investigating the shooting, which occurred at approximately 1pm on Sunday at the Garda Sports and Leisure Centre at Westmanstown.

Man Dies In Cell In Co Waterford
The Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission are carrying out an investigation following the death of a man in a Garda Station in County Waterford. Nathan Kirby, 21, was found dead in a cell in Dungarvan Garda Station at around 12pm on Tuesday. A post-mortem examination will take place at Waterford Regional Hospital today. Foul play is not suspected.
