25 New Jobs Announced In Waterford
US-based transit software company, RouteMatch, is to create 25 new jobs with the expansion of its Research and Development (R&D) team in Waterford.
The transit software company is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia and first established an R&D team in Waterford in 2015 to focus on the creation of the company's RMPay payment solutions technology.
The Minister for Jobs, Enterprise & Innovation, Mary Mitchell O'Connor, announced the expansion and new jobs alongside Larry Breen and Nathan Farmer from RouteMatch at IDA Ireland's Touchdown in Ireland Business Breakfast. The project is supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through IDA Ireland.
RouteMatch provides technologies that help public transit organizations dynamically manage operations and engage riders. The company's products are used by fixed scheduled transit services and demand response transit services where door-to-door, tailored transit is required such as for the elderly and special needs customers. The company currently services customers across North America and Australia, primarily through state and local government contracts.
Making the announcement, Minister Mitchell O'Connor said: "A further 25 jobs in Waterford is great news. This is following recent regional job announcements which shows that there is a momentum growing for jobs growth in regions around Ireland. Ensuring that Ireland creates the right environment to encourage job growth is key to continued job growth. I am delighted that RouteMatch Software are developing and growing in Ireland and I wish the team the very best for the future."
Welcoming the announcement Minister for Training, Skills and Innovation John Halligan added: "It is very positive to see that recent CSO results are showing that the South-East of the country is a growing region and is now the fastest growing region outside of Dublin. I am keen to see continued job growth in the South East with full time sustainable job growth my number one priority. RouteMatch choosing Waterford is a vote of confidence for the region and the talented workforce in the area. I wish RouteMatch and its employees all the best."

Making the announcement on Monday, Brinks Ireland said it would end the operations by the end of July. SIPTU Organiser, Brendan Carr, said: "The workers are extremely disappointed by this announcement.

Talk Talk To Close Its Doors
The Talk Talk call centre in Waterford will today shut down with up to 600 people set to be left unemployed this evening. This follows an announcement last month that the company would close its Irish base within 30 days. The Minister for Jobs Richard Bruton pushed for an extension to the 30-day notice period but the request was later refused.

In a devastating blow it has been revealed that a further 1,130 jobs could be under threat in Ireland. It has been rumored that 130 jobs could be axed at Rigney Dolphin who employ around 1,000 people in three offices in Waterford, Dublin and Dundalk.
