Three OCI Officials To Be Questioned Over Alleged Ticket Touting

Three Olympic Council of Ireland (OCI) officials have had their passports, phones and laptops seized by police in Brazil in connection with an investigation into the alleged illegal sale of tickets for the Olympic Games.

According to the OCI, the officials have not been arrested, however they have agreed to attend police stations in Rio for questioning.

Head of the OCI, Patrick Hickey, stood down from his post after being arrested by police in Rio over allegations of illegal ticket sales at this year's Games.

He has been moved to a high security prison at Rio's Gericino Penitentiary Complex and an application against his detention was denied by a judge, according to police in Rio.

A Rio police official said: "We are continuing the investigation into the international scheme of ticket scalping. Agents are conducting investigations since this morning which will continue until Tuesday."

In a statement, the OCI said: "The OCI will now also commission its own independent inquiry into the ticketing arrangements for Rio 2016. The previously announced internal inquiry by the OCI has been discontinued."
