Major Fire Ongoing In Ballymount

Dublin Fire Brigade is tackling a a major incident at a storage facility in Ballymount.

Emergency services were called to reports of a fire at the Store It facility at about 10:15 this morning – seven fire engines and specialist emergency equipment is currently on the scene.

The Fire Incident Commander at the scene has said that fighting the fire it expected to be a "prolonged incident" and has advised people to avoid the area. Motorist using the adjacent M50 have also be cautioned not to be distracted by the incident.

The area has been evacuated, there are no reports of any injuries.

Mountjoy Prison Cell Fire
A fire broke out in a cell at Dublin's Mountjoy Prison on Thursday night, according to reports. It is understood that a prisoner had set fire to a cell. However, it is believed that prison staff and fire crews were able to contain the fire quickly. No-one was injured in the incident.

Man Stable After Being Struck By Luas
A man struck by a Luas tram in south Dublin on Tuesday night is in a stable condition in hospital. The incident happened at Cheeverstown at about 20:15 on Tuesday, Dublin Fire Service have said. It is understood that an 18-year-old man was on the tracks between the Citywest and Cheeverstown stops when he was hit.
