Murder Investigation Underway After Discovery Of Child's Body
Gardaí have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of a 2-year-old boy's body at an apartment in South Dublin.
It is understood officers found the body at about 15:00 on Thursday at an apartment in Ridge Hall, Ballybrack.
The child was pronounced dead at the scene. According to reports the child had sustained stab wounds.
A post-mortem is due to be carried out today.
Gardaí say they are questioning a woman, aged in her 40s, on suspicion of murder.
It is understood the same child was the subject of a Child Rescue Ireland Alert in August.
However, the child was found safe and well at that time.

Gardaí have launched an investigation following the discovery of a man's body in an apartment in Galway City. It is understood that the man's body was found by his flatmate on Monday. According to reports, the dead man is believed to be a 23-year-old from Tullamore in Co Offaly who was studying in Galway City.

Garda Child Abuse Images Accused Trial Delayed For Five Weeks
A delay of five weeks has been allowed for the completion of a book of evidence in the case of a Garda officer charged with possession of child abuse images. 53-year-old Joe O'Connor is accused of possession of 655 images of child abuse. The accusation dates between 30 July and 02 August 2011. O'Connor is stationed at a city-centre garda station.
