Gardaí In Cork Appeal For Witnesses To Fatal M8 Car Crash

Gardaí in Cork have reported the death of a 28-year-old in a road accident on the M8 between Mitchelstown and Fermoy.

The man is understood to have been in a car that collided with a four-wheel drive vehicle.

Two women in the second vehicle are being treated at Cork University Hospital. The 71-year-old driver is understood to be seriously injured.

A forensic examination of the accident scene is underway.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to the accident to contact Fermoy Garda Station on 021-4522000.

Cork Gardaí Appeal For Witnesses To Fatal Road Accident
Gardaí in Co Cork have appealed for witnesses to a fatal road traffic accident in the early hours of Monday morning. It is understood that a 33-year-old male pedestrian was hit by a car at on the N25 on the Cork side of Castlemartyr at about 05:15 on 04 May. He was taken to Cork University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Gardaí Appeal For Witnesses To Fatal Co Cork Road Accident
Gardaí in Co Cork have appealed for witnesses after an 82-year-old man was knocked down and killed by a car in Kilcrohane on Thursday night. The incident happened at about 20:05 last night as the elderly man was walking in the town. He was pronounced dead at Cork University Hospital shortly before midnight.

PSNI Investigating Fatal Collision Near Bready, Co Tyrone
An investigation has been launched following a fatal road traffic collision near Bready, Co Tyrone. At around 1.40pm on Sunday, 07 April, police responded to a report of a single vehicle collision on the Victoria Road. When police arrived it was discovered that a white Seat Leon had left the carriageway close to the junction with Grangefoyle Road.

Over 660 Motorists Found Speeding Over Easter Bank Holidays
More than 660 motorists were caught breaking the speed limit across the Causeway Coast and Glens during the Easter bank holiday weekend – an increase of 22% from 2022. Chief Inspector Sinead McIldowney said: "The Safety Camera Vans were deployed at various locations across the North Coast and the increase in these detections is a worrying trend.

Inquest Opens Into 2011 Cork Airport Crash
An inquest has opened into a plane crash at Cork Airport that killed six people in 2011. The crash happened on the 10 February when a 19-seater Metroliner aircraft crashed at Cork Airport on its third attempt to land in dense fog. The flight had arrived from Belfast and was carrying 10 passengers and 2 crew.
