Gardaí Appeal For Information Following Serious Assault
A 23-year-old man is in a serious condition in hospital and a 19-year-old man is in custody following an assault in Dublin on Tuesday evening.
Gardaí have confirmed that a man suffered serious injuries in an assault at around 6pm near the Luas stop in Rialto.
The victim has been named as Mark Cooke, whose condition is described as serious but stable, according to the Irish Independent.
Garda believe that Mr Cooke may have been hit in the head with a bottle, which was found a short distance from the victim and has been removed for forensic examination.
A 19-year-old man was arrested a short time later in connection with the incident and is being questioned by garda at Kilmainham Garda Station.
Gardaí have appealed for any witnesses to the assault or any one who was in the area of St James' Walk near the Rialto stop, to contact Kilmainham Garda Station on 01 6669700.

A woman has been seriously assaulted in the Rialto area of Dublin in the early hours of Sunday morning. Gardai at Kilmainham said they are investigating the circumstances of the assault, during which a 28-year-old woman sustained serious head injuries at a house on Ruben Walk. She is currently receiving treatment at Beaumont Hospital.
