Bomb Disposal Team Called Over Unstable Chemicals At School

A controlled explosion was carried out at a school in Co Tipperary after an Army bomb disposal team was called over a quantity of unstable chemicals.

The Defence Forces Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was sent to the Christian Brothers School in Thurles following a request from gardaí.

An unstable quantity of picric acid, which was found in the school laboratory, was made safe around 19.00 on Monday night.

A spokesman for the Defence Forces said the chemical was removed to a safe location where it was made safe through the use of a controlled explosion.

Grenade Found At House In Galway
More than 30 families were evacuated from their homesi n Galway last night after a device was found in the garden of a house. A viable World War II grenade was discovered at a property at approximately 10.30pm. An army disposal team made the device safe at around 1.30am.

Controlled Explosion Carried Out At Crumlin Hospital
A controlled explosion was carried out by army bomb disposal experts at Crumlin Children's Hospital in Dublin on Thursday morning. The explosion, which was conducted on a reportedly 'unstable substance' found in one of the hospital's laboratories on Wednesday evening, was carried out at 6:30am on Thursday.

Suspicious Device Found In Rush Made Safe
A suspicious device has been made safe in Co Dublin. Emergency services were alerted earlier today, 02 December, that a suspect device had been located in Rush. An emergency cordon was established in the surrounding area and number of homes were evacuated. The Army Bomb Disposal Team arrived at the scene at 9.40am and site was declared safe at 11.
