Teenage Girl Commits Suicide After Bullying Claims

A 13-year-old girl has committed suicide after warning people the day before that she was going to kill herself.

Erin Gallagher from Donegal Road in Ballybofey, killed herself on Saturday following many abusive messages posted on a online discussion forum.

The second-year pupil at Finn Valley College in Stranorlar, Co Donegal, was communicating on the website.

Her body has been taken to Letterkenny General hospital where a post-mortem is to be carried out.

A Facebook page has been set up for the schoolgirl called RIP Erin Gallagher and has received over 1,500 likes.

Polling stations across Ireland have been opened as 157 seats in the Dáil are contested in 40 constituencies. Over 550 candidates have campaigned for the support of more than 3.22 million eligible voters and a seat in the 32nd Dáil. Man Dies In House Fire In Donegal
A man has died following a house fire in Dungloe, Donegal. The fire was reported at around 2.30am on Friday, 11 December. The victim, who was in his 80s, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the only occupant of the house. The scene is currently being preserved for a technical examination, but his death is not being treated as suspicious.

Erin Gallagher's Sister Found Dead
The sister of Erin Gallagher, who committed suicide less than two months ago, has also died. Shannon Gallagher, 15, passed away in Co Donegal last night. It is believed she also died of suicide.

Man Dies In Donegal Road Crash
A man has died in a road crash in Donegal. The collision, between a car and a lorry, occurred at Tullytrap on the main Letterkenny to Lifford Road, on Thursday, 04 August. The driver of the car was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital, however he later died from his injuries. A passenger in the vehicle is currently being treated in hospital.

Three People Killed In Donegal Traffic Collision
Two men and a woman have died in a serious road traffic collision at Corravaddy in Donegal. The collision between two cars occurred at around 1am this morning, 28 July, approximately four miles from Letterkenny. One male was seriously injured in the collision and is being treated at Letterkenny University Hospital.

Two Men Arrested In Connection With 2006 Murder Of Denis Donaldson
Gardaí investigating the death of Denis Donaldson in 2006 have arrested two men in Co Donegal. Mr Donaldson, a senior Sinn Féin official, had been exposed as an agent for M15 in 2005. He was shot dead at an isolated cottage near Glenties, Co Donegal where he'd been living since his exposure.

Appeal Issued For 59-Year-Old Man Missing In Donegal
Gardaí have issued an appeal for help in tracing Anthony Griffiths, who has been missing since Tuesday, 30 August. Mr Griffiths, 59, is from L'Derry and was visiting Donegal on Tuesday when he went missing. He was last seen close to Doagh Famine Village, Doagh Clonmany shortly after midnight on Tuesday.

An Orange weather warning for rain has been issued for a number of counties across Ireland. Met Éireann has issued the warning for counties, Connacht, Donegal, Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick and Tipperary.

Status Red Weather Warning Issued
A severe weather warning has been issued for Connacht and west Ulster by Met Éireann. A status red, the highest alert, has been issued this evening for counties Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo. The Coast Guard has also issued warnings of storms and gusts of up to 150km/h in parts of the country.

Rally Worth €30M To North West
The Topaz Donegal International Rally is expected to bring €30 million to the North West economy, according to its sponsors. The international event is expected to attract 70,000 spectators this year, 20,000 more than usual owing to the new town stage around Buncrana on the opening day.

School Programme To Generate 3,300 Jobs

Two armed and masked men have robbed a filling station in County Donegal. At about 3.30pm on Thursday, the pair - one carrying a shotgun, the other a handgun - entered the premises just over the border from Northern Ireland - near Killea.

Post Mortem To Be Carried Out On Letterkenny Body
Gardaí are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a Polish man, whose body was found in County Donegal two days ago. The man’s body was found in the ruins of an old house in the Gortlee area of Letterkenny and the body is that of a man who had been reported missing earlier in the summer.

Met Éireann has issued a 'Status Yellow' warning for parts of Ireland today following overnight snowfall. Drivers have also been advised to leave additional time for journeys and to travel carefully as snow and ice could make driving conditions difficult.
