Teenage Girl Commits Suicide After Bullying Claims

A 13-year-old girl has committed suicide after warning people the day before that she was going to kill herself.

Erin Gallagher from Donegal Road in Ballybofey, killed herself on Saturday following many abusive messages posted on a online discussion forum.

The second-year pupil at Finn Valley College in Stranorlar, Co Donegal, was communicating on the website.

Her body has been taken to Letterkenny General hospital where a post-mortem is to be carried out.

A Facebook page has been set up for the schoolgirl called RIP Erin Gallagher and has received over 1,500 likes.

The sister of Erin Gallagher, who committed suicide less than two months ago, has also died. Shannon Gallagher, 15, passed away in Co Donegal last night. It is believed she also died of suicide.

Donegal Accident Claims Another Road Victim
Another fatal accident has blighted the roads in Ireland with a man dying in an early morning crash in Co Donegal. This is the latest such fatality and happened in the border village of Muff at about 1am on Friday. The victim was in his twenties and from the village of Burnfoot in County Donegal.

STEMI Heart Attack Patients In Donegal To Receive Access To Services In L'Derry
Patients in Donegal suffering from a STEMI heart attack will now have direct access to services at the Altengelvin Hospital in Co L'Derry. The move is part of a new cross-border cardiology service. Minister for Health Leo Varadkar said: "Up to 60 patients suffering from a STEMI heart attack will be treated in Altnagelvin every year.

Man Arrested In Connection With 2012 Co Donegal Death
Gardaí investigating the murder of Seamus Doherty in Co Donegal in June 2012, have arrested a 52-year-old man. Mr Doherty's body was discovered at a house in Drumacnoo, near the village of Churchill, just before 2am on 17 June, 2012. A man was arrested in connection with the investigation on Wednesday night in Raphoe, Co Donegal.

Man Dies In House Fire In Donegal
A man has died following a house fire in Dungloe, Donegal. The fire was reported at around 2.30am on Friday, 11 December. The victim, who was in his 80s, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the only occupant of the house. The scene is currently being preserved for a technical examination, but his death is not being treated as suspicious.

Man Dies In Donegal Road Crash
A man has died in a road crash in Donegal. The collision, between a car and a lorry, occurred at Tullytrap on the main Letterkenny to Lifford Road, on Thursday, 04 August. The driver of the car was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital, however he later died from his injuries. A passenger in the vehicle is currently being treated in hospital.

Funeral Of Erin Gallagher Takes Place
The funeral of 13-year-old Erin Gallagher has taken place in Stranorlar, Donegal. It is claimed the teen took her own life after she was the victim of cyber-bullying. Her mother Lorraine, sister Shannon and brother Sean James followed the white coffin inside St Mary's Church.

Dublin/Donegal Flights Launched
A new flight route between Dublin and Donegal has been announced by the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport. Aer Lingus Regional began the first flights this week as the new operator of the PSO (Public Service Obligation) route from Donegal. The airline will fly twice-daily return journeys, seven days a week, all year round.

Lorry Driver Dies Gardai at Santry are investigating a fatal road traffic collision on the M50 that happened at approximately 6.10am on Thursday morning. They said that a 27-year-old man, who was the driver and sole occupant of an articulated lorry, was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene.

Gardaí Back Calls For Stolen Phone "Kill Switch"
With a notable increase in the theft of mobile phones gardaí have called for the introduction of a "kill switch" that would immediately disable a stolen phone. Currently, a stolen mobile phone can only be disabled if the international mobile equipment identity (IMEI) number is known, which is a 15-digit code unique to each phone.
