Explosives Found At Disused Quarry

Gardai have recovered a small quantity of old type commercial explosives at a disused quarry in Cork.

It is part of an ongoing investigation into the theft of metal in the Cork North Garda Division.

The quarry was on the outskirts of Midleton.

The area was made safe by the army EOD team from Collins Barracks in Cork and investigations into the findings are continuing.

Over 660 Motorists Found Speeding Over Easter Bank Holidays
More than 660 motorists were caught breaking the speed limit across the Causeway Coast and Glens during the Easter bank holiday weekend – an increase of 22% from 2022. Chief Inspector Sinead McIldowney said: "The Safety Camera Vans were deployed at various locations across the North Coast and the increase in these detections is a worrying trend.

Body Confirmed As Missing Galway Man
Gardaí have confirmed they have found the body of missing Galway man Adrian Folan. Mr Folan had been missing since last Thursday, when he was last seen in Athlone. Gardaí say that a body found in a disused quarry near the village of Liscannor in north Clare is that of Mr Folan, and that the death is being treated as suspicious.

Two Teenagers Drown In Co Clare Quarry Lake
Two 15-year-old boys have died after getting into difficulty while swimming in a Co Clare quarry lake. Gardaí and emergency services were called to reports that people were in difficulty in the water at Knockanean quarry lake in Ennis at about 3.30pm on Thursday 31 May. A rescue helicopter was also despatched to the scene from Shannon.

Greyhounds Found Shot In Limerick
An investigation has been started after the bodies of at least six greyhounds were found at a disused quarry in Limerick. It is believed the dogs, found in Ballyagran, were shot in the head. It is a requirement for all racing greyhounds to have an identifying tattoo in each ear and reports suggest some of those were still legible.
