Cannabis Worth €500k Seized In Wicklow

A cache of cannabis worth €500,000 has been seized in County Wicklow as part of an ongoing operation.

Gardai from the Wicklow Division and Garda National Drugs Unit said this morning they have discovered a Cannabis growing operation and seized a large quantity of plants as part of an ongoing investigation.

The discovery was made following the search of a house in the Ashford area on yesterday.

A spokesman for Gardaí said Cannabis plants at various stages of growth were seized with a potential street value of €500,000, subject to analysis.

The operation ongoing and there are no further details available at this time.

The find follows a discovery in County Clare when an intelligence operation in County Clare recovered a drugs stash worth nearly €40,000.

Gardaí from Kilrush Garda station yesterday said they made the find after carrying out a search of open ground adjacent to John Paul Estate in Kilrush.

A Gardaí spokesman said the find was part of an intelligence lead operation and that local Gardaí from Kilrush were assisted in this search by the Garda dog unit. One kilo of Cannabis resin with a street value of €12,000 was recovered and 185 grams of heroin with a street value of €28,000 was also recovered.

Drug paraphernalia, including weighing scales, was also seized in this operation. Gardaí said no arrests were made.

Arrest As €100k Cannabis Seized In Co Sligo
A man is under arrest over the discovery of suspected cannabis worth an estimated €100,000 in Sligo. Gardaí uncovered the drugs, along with a sum of cash, during a search of a property in Ballymote on Thursday evening, 16 January. A male in his 30s was arrested and remains in custody at Ballymote Garda Station.

Cannabis Found In Wooded Area In Co Cavan
Cannabis worth an estimated €100,000 has been uncovered in a wooded area in Co Cavan. Gardaí confirmed they made the discovery on Tuesday at Drumgill. No one has been arrested in connection with the find, gardaí have said, adding that the investigation is ongoing.
