Bomb Squad Check Kildare Rocket

A rifle and a rocket launcher have been uncovered in a follow-up operation today that has since sparked a security alert.

On Wednesday, gardaí from the Organised Crime Unit stopped a vehicle on the Naas Road.

A kilo of cocaine was recovered with an estimated street value of €70,000 and two men were arrested.

Two more men were arrested in a follow up search operation in the Rathcoole area. All four are currently detained in Clondalkin Garda Station.

As part of the follow up operation, officers from the Organised Crime Unit, assisted by units from Kildare, searched a warehouse in the Clane area of Kildare.

A further nine kilos of cocaine with a street value of €630,000 was seized together with an assault rifle and two rocket launchers with the army bomb disposal team at the scene, which remains sealed off, to make these items safe.

Man Arrested After Gun And Ammo Found In Car
A 29-year-old man has been arrested following the discovery of a handgun and ammunition in a car on the Naas Road. The Organised Crime Unit stopped a car on the N7 near Kill, Co Kildare during a planned operation. A handgun and quantity of ammunition was recovered from the car and the driver arrested.

Mass Organised Crime Operation Springs Into Action
A massive Gardaí operation countering organised crime has began in Limerick. The operation is part of an ongoing police investigation into such gang-related criminal activity in the Limerick area with planned searches being carried this morning.

Cocaine Seized And Two Arrested In North Dublin
Cocaine with an estimated value of up to €250,000 has been seized by gardaí in north Dublin. A man and a woman have been arrested in connection with the find. The drugs were uncovered when officers from the Organised Crime Unit stopped and searched a car in Ballymun on Wednesday evening.

Four Men Charged Under New Laws To Tackle Organised Crime
Four men, originally from Crumlin, have become the first to charged under tough new laws to tackle organised crime. David Atkinson, 41, Gerard Carey, 33, Philip Kerfoot, 38, and Dwayne Stacey, 22, appeared in Dublin District Court and were the first to be charged with participating in the activities of a gang they knew existed.
